This growth is known as algae, fungus, microbes or diesel bug. It occurs in the interface between fuel and water and can clog your fuel filters and seriously damage your fuel injection equipment. The longer a piece of machinery, fuel bowser or storage tank sits without being used, the higher the risk of contaminated fuel.
