Swapping Spare Parts for Spare Clothes in First Charity Volunteering Day

On 1st September 2025, the HTS Spares team swapped their desks for donation bags as we kicked off our very first volunteering day with our Charity of the Year, St Michael's Hospice, Hereford. It was an opportunity to step out of the office, roll up our sleeves, and contribute to a cause that makes a real difference in our local community.

From the moment we arrived, the team was immersed in the Hospice’s bustling donation centre where we sorted through countless bags of clothing donations. Each item, no matter how big or small, is carefully inspected, sorted, and organised before being sent to the Hospice’s charity shops. These shops play a vital role, as every sale directly supports the incredible care St Michael’s provides for local families facing life-limiting illnesses.

It was truly eye opening to see the sheer amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the Hospice running. From quality-checking every donation to organising stock for sale, the dedication of the staff and volunteers was inspiring. For our team, it was a privilege to play even a small part in supporting such an important cause.

Beyond the hard work, the day was full of laughter, teamwork, and camaraderie. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved made the day not only productive but also enjoyable.

A huge thank you to St Michael’s Hospice for welcoming us so warmly and showing us the incredible impact of our efforts. And of course, a big shout-out to our HTS colleagues, whose dedication and positivity made this volunteering day a real success.

This marks just the beginning of our volunteering journey, and we’re already excited about future opportunities to give back. Working with St Michael’s Hospice reminded us how meaningful small acts of service can be - and how much of a difference a motivated team can make when we come together for a cause we believe in.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with the St Michael’s Hospice and supporting the life changing work they do in Hereford and beyond.
