Top tips for using warning flares on site
- Position flares at eye level or on vertical surfaces where possible - visibility drops sharply when they're laid flat on the ground.
- Recharge flares fully after every use so they're ready for the next call-out; a partially charged flare can fail exactly when it's needed most.
- Space multiple flares evenly around the hazard rather than clustering them in one place, to give approaching traffic or plant operators the clearest possible warning.
