The 13 Pin Car & Trailer Tester is designed for checking ISO 11446 13 pin lighting and 12V electrical circuits, providing a convenient diagnostic tool for workshops, towbar installations and trailer maintenance. Unlike a socket-only tester, this unit can be used to test both compatible towbar and trailer connections, with LED indicators showing green when the selected function is correctly wired and red when a fault is detected. It is suitable for trailer lighting using either LED or conventional filament bulbs and can also be used with a suitable adaptor, such as HEL1091 or HEL1092, to test compatible 7 pin ISO 1724 lighting circuits. The tester requires one 9V PP3 battery, which is not included.
Features & Benefits
- Car and trailer testing - suitable for checking electrical functions on both sides of a compatible 13 pin towing system.
- ISO 11446 compatible - designed for 13 pin lighting and 12V power supply circuits.
- Clear LED indicators - displays green for a correctly wired tested function and red when a fault is present.
- LED and filament lamp compatible - suitable for trailers using either type of lighting.
- 12V power supply testing - power supplies can be checked on the towbar side of the system.
- Individual function testing - side button must be held while each circuit is tested, reducing the risk of testing multiple functions simultaneously.
- 7 pin testing capability - can be used with a suitable adaptor such as HEL1091 or HEL1092 to test compatible ISO 1724 7 pin lighting circuits.
- Battery powered - requires 1 x 9V PP3 battery, not included.
- Applications - suitable for workshops, towbar installation, trailer servicing, fleet maintenance and towing electrical fault diagnosis.
Important Testing Instructions
For towbar testing, switch the vehicle ignition on and activate each electrical function individually. Press and hold the yellow button on the side of the tester while checking the selected function - releasing the button ends the test.
Do not test the towbar and trailer functions at the same time.
Top Tips
Green doesnāt mean the whole system is fault-free
The LED relates to the individual function being tested. Work through the circuits one at a time to identify exactly where a wiring or electrical fault may be present.
Testing a 7 pin system?
The tester is designed for 13 pin plugs and sockets, but a suitable adaptor such as HEL1091 or HEL1092 can be used when testing compatible ISO 1724 7 pin lighting circuits.
