Our LED lighting boards are engineered for the demands of plant and tool hire operations, where trailers, generators, welfare units and site equipment need to go from yard to road without delay. Each board is E-marked to ECE lighting standards and wired 12/24V, so the same unit works across a mixed fleet of cars, vans, 4x4s and HGVs without needing separate stock for each voltage. The 7-pin plug is fitted as standard, giving a direct, reliable connection with no rewiring or adapters required.

Under the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, any trailer or towed load that blocks the towing vehicle's own tail, stop, indicator or number plate lights must carry supplementary lighting to replace them - a common issue with plant, dumpers, bowsers and welfare units towed by hire companies. Our LED boards solve this with a durable, weather-resistant design built to handle repeated hitching, site dirt and outdoor storage, keeping hire fleets compliant and reducing callouts for blown bulbs or damaged units.

Features and Benefits

  • E-marked construction confirms the board meets recognised European lighting standards for road use
  • Dual 12/24V voltage removes the need to stock separate 12V and 24V boards for different vehicle types
  • LED technology draws less current than filament bulbs, reducing strain on tow vehicle electrics
  • Impact and weather-resistant housing suited to daily use across hire yards and construction sites
  • Standard 7-pin (12N-type) plug for straightforward fitting to existing trailer or plant wiring
  • A cost-effective way to keep obscured trailers, generators and welfare units legally lit
FAQs

Do I legally need a lighting board on my trailer or plant?
If the load you're towing hides the tow vehicle's tail, stop, indicator or number plate lights, you're required under the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 to fit supplementary lighting, such as a lighting board, to replace them.

What does "E-marked" mean?
An E-mark shows the product has been independently tested and certified as meeting European vehicle lighting standards, confirming it's legal for use on UK roads.

Do I need a 12V or 12/24V board?
Cars, vans and light trailers typically run on 12V, while HGVs and larger plant transporters use 24V. A 12/24V board works on either, making it the safer choice for hire fleets with mixed vehicle types.

Will the 7-pin plug fit my vehicle?
The 7-pin (12N-type) plug is the standard fitment on most UK trailers, plant and towing vehicles, so it should connect directly without needing an adapter.
