The Thwaites Axle Breather (OEM T53442) is a replacement breather fitted to compatible Thwaites axle assemblies. It allows the axle casing to vent as the temperature and pressure of the oil and air inside the housing change during operation, helping prevent excessive pressure from building within the axle.
Fitted to the main axle casing, the breather is an important part of maintaining correct internal pressure while helping reduce the risk of lubricant being forced past seals or other joints. The T53442 is used on a range of Thwaites axle assemblies and replaces the earlier T52750 breather specification on applicable machines.
